T. Michele Thompson, M.D.

Dr. Thompson is board certified in family medicine. She completed her residency training at Mountain Area Health Education Center affiliated with UNC Chapel Hill at Mission Hospitals in Asheville, NC. She received her medical degree from Medical College of Georgia and her Bachelor degree from Mercer University with a double major in Chemistry and German.

Dr. Thompson enjoys being a family doctor and especially appreciates the personal connections she has with her patients. Her other interests include chocolate, science-fiction novels, and exercising. She resides in Blairsville with her husband, daughter, and son.

Suzanne L. Nunn, M.D.

Dr. Nunn is board certified in family medicine. She attended Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia. She graduated with honors in 1999. She completed her residency in Spartanburg, South Carolina at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System in 2002. She chose to do a fellowship in Obstetrics and Women’s Health at Spartanburg Regional and completed this in 2003. Prior to this, she attended Shorter College in Rome, Georgia. She received her Bachelor’s degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She graduated Summa Cum-Laude. Her first practice location was in Hiawassee, Georgia where she worked at Chatuge Family Care. She provided full spectrum family medicine including Obstetrics at this location from 2003 until 2010. She moved her practice location to High Mountain Healthcare in March 2010.

Dr. Nunn continues to provide full spectrum family medicine. She particularly enjoys women’s health, including obstetrics, as well as pediatrics. Her training also allows her to provide comprehensive out-patient gynecological care. She manages cervical pathology in the office where she is capable of doing colposcopy, endometrial biopsies, cryosurgery and LEEPS. She delivers her patients at Union General Hospital, where she does both natural and surgical deliveries. She is also able to perform post partum sterilization and newborn circumcisions.

Steven Rouse, P.A.

A native of Vero Beach, Florida, Steven is a board licensed physician’s assistant in the state of Georgia. Before graduating from South College in Savannah, GA., with a major in Physician Assistant studies, he was a 1998 biology graduate of Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina. While at Mars Hill, Steven as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was an All-American scholar, a member of the Dean’s list and also was the founder/president of the Biological Society.

Before moving to north Georgia, Steven was employed as a P.A., with the Hussamy Sports and Hand Center in Vero Beach, Florida. While residing in Blairsville, he has been privileged to work  with Drs. Jack Pennington and Tom Karisny in their respective healthcare practices.

Currently, Steven is involved in all aspects of office and hospitalized patient care. This includes a wide variety of medical disciplines such as pulmonology, gastronenterology, endocrinology, cardiology and neurology.

Steven is married to Tiffany Rouse, P.A., and has two children.

Tiffany Rouse, P.A.

Tiffany is a board licensed physician’s assistant in the state of Georgia. She is a 1998 biology graduate of Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina. While at Mars Hill, Tiffany was a member of the college volleyball team, was a member of the Dean’s List, nominated for Who’s Who in American College Students as well as serving in other leadership positions in a various organizations. Upon finishing undergraduate work, she went on to attend PA school at South College in Savannah, Georgia. During her time there she was nominated to the Dean’s List and became a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and also the Georgia Academy of Physician’s Assistants.

Tiffany has previously served as a P.A. at the Northwest Georgia Oncology Centers and the Neurological Institute of Savannah and is now employed with High Mountain Healthcare in Blairsville, Georgia.

Tiffany is married to Steven Rouse, P.A., and has two children.

Sherry Shuman, APRN-BC

Sherry is a registered nurse within the state of Georgia and holds professional licenses as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and has also received an ANCC certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member in good standing with the American Nurses Association, the Georgia Nurses Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, United Advanced Practice RN-Georgia, and Sigma Theta Tau.

Sherry received her Diploma in nursing from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing in March 1992, returning to Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer to complete her BSN in June 1998. To reach her goal of living and working in the North Georgia Mountains, Sherry returned to school at Kennesaw State University and graduated in December 2001 with her Masters Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Sherry spent many years in the Emergency Department at Atlanta Medical Center and Piedmont Hospital , as a RN, charge nurse, and Assistant Nurse Manager. Anticipating her move to North Georgia and becoming a Nurse Practitioner she began working with Cardiologists from Atlanta who held clinics in North Georgia. She has worked in Family Practice, Urgent Care, and Oncology as a Nurse Practitioner.

Sherry lives in Morganton with her husband of 35 years-David. They have 4 grown children and she loves spending time with her 3 grandchildren. She enjoys reading, traveling but most of all playing with her 3 dogs.

Susan Dressler, FNP-C

Susan DresslerSusan Dressler is a native of Union County.  She felt called to the medical field after working with orphans and street children in Romania her senior year of high school.  Susan received her Registered Nursing Degree in 2003 from North Georgia College& State University.  She also obtained her BSN at North Georgia in 2004, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Prior to joining High Mountain Healthcare she worked as a registered nurse at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for a year before transferring to Union General for the past 10 years. Excelling in almost every area of the hospital from ICU to L&D. Susan received her MSN in Family Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University in 2014. She has also received AANP certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of the Frontier Honors Society.

Susan continues to live in the area with her husband and three children.  She enjoys gardening, music, and being outside with her family.
